Chicken with French onion flavor baked in a bubbly casserole

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a skillet, melt butter and sauté onions over medium-low heat until golden and soft (about 15–20 minutes for max flavor). Add a pinch of salt while cooking to help them break down.
  3. In a large bowl, combine:
    • Shredded chicken
    • Cooked onions
    • French onion soup
    • Sour cream
    • Garlic powder
    • Salt & pepper
    • Half of the shredded cheese
  4. Mix until creamy and well blended. If it’s too thick, stir in a splash of milk or cream.
  5. Spoon into a greased 9×13” casserole dish. Sprinkle remaining cheese on top.
  6. Bake uncovered for 20–25 minutes, or until bubbly and hot.
  7. Top with crispy French-fried onions and bake for another 5–8 minutes, until golden and crunchy.
  8. Let sit for 5 mins, then dig in!

🍽️ Serve With:

  • Mashed potatoes
  • Egg noodles
  • Rice or cauliflower rice
  • Toasty bread (for that French onion soup feel)

Want to turn it into a full one-pan meal with a starch or veggie? I gotcha!
