Crispy Fish Fry

Clean and Marinate:
Wash and pat dry the fish.
In a bowl, mix turmeric, red chili powder, black pepper, garlic paste, ginger paste, lemon juice, and salt.
Rub the marinade evenly on the fish and let it sit for 30 minutes to 1 hour.
Coat for Crispiness:
Mix rice flour and cornflour (or all-purpose flour) in a plate.
Lightly coat each fish piece with the flour mixture just before frying. This gives it that crispy crust.
Fry:
Heat oil in a pan on medium-high heat.
Shallow fry or deep fry the fish until golden brown and crispy on both sides.
Place on a paper towel to drain excess oil.
Serve:
Serve hot with lemon wedges, sliced onions, and mint chutney or tartar sauce.
Tips:
For extra crunch, double coat the fish (flour → dip in egg → flour again).
Use cold water to mix the flour if making a batter for deep frying.
Don’t overcrowd the pan while frying – it lowers oil temperature and makes fish soggy.
Here’s a Crispy Fish Fry recipe made in an air fryer—healthier but still crunchy and flavorful!

⭐ Crispy Fish Fry (Air Fryer Version)
Ingredients:
500g boneless fish fillets (tilapia, cod, catfish, or kingfish)
1 tsp turmeric powder
1 tsp red chili powder or paprika
1 tsp black pepper
1 tsp garlic paste
1 tsp ginger paste
1 tsp lemon juice or vinegar
Salt to taste
2 tbsp rice flour (for crispiness)
2 tbsp cornflour or all-purpose flour
1–2 tsp oil (to brush or spray)
Optional: ½ cup breadcrumbs or panko (for extra crunch)
🔪 Instructions:
1. Marinate the Fish:
In a bowl, mix turmeric, chili powder, black pepper, salt, garlic paste, ginger paste, and lemon juice.
Rub this mix over fish fillets evenly.
Let marinate for 20–30 minutes.
2. Coating:
Mix rice flour and cornflour (and breadcrumbs if using) in a plate.
Lightly press each marinated fish piece into the dry mix so it’s evenly coated.
Optionally spray a little oil on both sides or lightly brush.
3. Air Frying:
Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for 3–5 minutes.
Place fish fillets in the air fryer basket in a single layer (no overlapping).
Air fry for 10–12 minutes, flipping halfway through.
Spray or brush with a little oil mid-way for better browning.
4. Serve Hot:
Enjoy with lemon wedges, sliced onions, and green chutney or your favorite dipping sauce.
💡 Tips:
Panko breadcrumbs give the best crunch in an air fryer.
If your fish is very moist, pat it dry before marinating to help the coating stick better.
Use perforated parchment paper if your air fryer tends to stick.
