What do you need?
1 x 2-litre plastic bottle with lid
Cotton
Boiled or activated charcoal
Fine sand
Medium and small stones
A clean container to collect filtered water
Dirty water for testing
Step by step: how to make the homemade filter
📌 1. Cut the bottle in half
Use the top as a funnel and the bottom as a collection container. Make some holes in the lid, the filtered water will pass through it.
📌 2. Prepare the layers
Place in order:
– At the bottom (which is now the top of the funnel), put cotton.
– Then the crushed coal. (This is essential, as it eliminates bacteria and absorbs impurities)
– Then earth or fine
sand – Finally, large stones.
📌 3.
Place the top upside down inside the base of the bottle.
📌 4. I poured the dirty water
Just as you can see in the picture, the cloudy water is poured on top, and as it goes through all the layers, it comes out much cleaner on the other side.

Where is the business?
Many people in rural areas or with limited access to drinking water would pay for a simple, inexpensive, and effective filter like this. If you make several and show how they work, you can sell them, offer workshops, or even teach the method on social networks. There are millions of people who still don’t know this simple and powerful trick.
