Mom tried it and immediately asked me for the recipe!

1 lb ground beef
1 large onion, thinly sliced
8 slices rye bread
4 slices Swiss cheese
4 slices cheddar cheese
Butter
Salt
Pepper
1/2 cup mayonnaise
2 tablespoons ketchup
1 tablespoon sweet pickle relish
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
Directions
1. In a small bowl, mix together the mayonnaise, ketchup, sweet pickle relish, and Worcestershire sauce to make the secret sauce. Set aside.
2. In a skillet over medium heat, melt a tablespoon of butter and add the sliced onions. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the onions are caramelized and golden brown, about 15 minutes. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
3. Season the ground beef with salt and pepper, then form into four equal patties.
4. In the same skillet, cook the beef patties over medium-high heat until browned and cooked through, about 4-5 minutes per side. Remove from the skillet.
5. Butter one side of each slice of rye bread. On the unbuttered side of four slices, layer a slice of Swiss cheese, a beef patty, caramelized onions, a slice of cheddar cheese, and top with another slice of rye bread, buttered side out.
6. In the skillet over medium heat, grill the sandwiches until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted, about 3-4 minutes per side.
7. Serve the sandwiches hot with a generous dollop of the secret sauce on the side.
Variations & Tips

For a spicier kick, add a dash of hot sauce to the secret sauce or sprinkle some red pepper flakes onto the beef patties before cooking. You can also try using different types of cheese, such as pepper jack or provolone, for a unique flavor profile. For a vegetarian version, substitute the beef patties with grilled portobello mushrooms or a plant-based patty.
