1 pound ground beef
12 ounces pasta (such as penne or rigatoni)
2 cups marinara sauce
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 small onion, diced
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1 teaspoon dried basil
Salt and pepper to taste
Directions
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
Cook the pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the diced onion and minced garlic, sautéing until the onion is translucent.
Add the ground beef to the skillet, cooking until browned. Drain any excess fat.
Stir in the marinara sauce, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Let the mixture simmer for about 5 minutes.
Combine the cooked pasta with the beef and sauce mixture, stirring until well coated.
Transfer the pasta and beef mixture to a 9×13 inch baking dish.
Sprinkle the mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses evenly over the top.
Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
Allow the dish to cool slightly before serving.
Variations & Tips
For a spicier version, add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the sauce. You can also substitute ground turkey or chicken for the beef to lighten the dish. For a vegetarian option, replace the meat with sautéed mushrooms and zucchini. Feel free to experiment with different types of cheese, such as cheddar or provolone, to suit your taste preferences.
