Ingredient Quantity
Dorito Nacho Cheese Chips, broken 1 large bag
Lean ground beef 1 pound
Taco seasoning 1 packet
Red onion, diced 1
Cheddar cheese, shredded 2 cups
Lettuce, shredded 1 head
Tomatoes, chopped 6
Italian dressing ½ cup
Ranch dressing 2 cups
Instructions:
Brown the Beef: In a large skillet, crumble and brown the lean ground beef over medium-high heat. Once cooked through, drain any excess fat from the pan.
Season the Meat: Add the taco seasoning packet to the browned beef. Pour in the ½ cup Italian dressing and 2 cups ranch dressing. Stir well to combine and simmer, stirring occasionally, until the liquid is mostly soaked up by the meat mixture.
Prepare Toppings: While the meat mixture simmers, prepare your fresh toppings:
Shred the lettuce and place it in a serving bowl.
Chop the tomatoes and place them in another serving bowl.
Dice the red onion and place it into a third serving bowl.
Place the shredded cheddar cheese into a large serving bowl.
Break the Dorito Nacho Cheese Chips into smaller, bite-sized pieces (not crumbs) and place them in a serving bowl.
Tip: Placing ingredients in separate bowls allows each person to customize their salad and makes storing leftovers easier. Alternatively, you can mix the prepared vegetables and cheese directly into the seasoned meat mixture if serving immediately and not offering individual customization.
Assemble and Enjoy: Serve the seasoned ground beef mixture warm alongside the bowls of fresh toppings and Dorito chips. Each person can build their own salad with their desired amounts of each ingredient.
