Once I took a bite of this beef, I knew there was no going back. I had to eat this forever

3 pounds of flat-cut corned beef roast (discard the included spice packet)
2 teaspoons of cooking oil
1/2 cup of maple syrup
1/4 teaspoon of black pepper
1/4 cup of yellow mustard
1 minced garlic clove
Instructions:
1. Rinse the corned beef and pat it dry using a paper towel.
2. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and add the cooking oil to coat the bottom of the pan. Once the oil is hot, sear the meat on all sides until browned. Transfer the browned meat to a slow cooker.
3. In a small bowl, combine the maple syrup, mustard, black pepper, and minced garlic clove. Stir well.
