How To Make Sweet Blueberry Biscuits
Step 1: Prep & Mix Dry Ingredients: Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C). In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
Step 2: Add Butter: Grate the cold or frozen butter directly into the bowl with the dry ingredients. Use your fingers or a pastry cutter to quickly work the butter into the flour until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Step 3: Form the Dough: Add the cold milk and blueberries to the bowl. Gently mix with a spoon or your hands until the dough just comes together. Do not overmix.
Step 4: Shape & Cut Biscuits: Lightly flour a clean surface. Place the dough on the surface and gently roll or pat it out until it is about ¼ to ⅛ inches thick. Using a biscuit cutter, cut approximately 6 biscuits from the dough.
Step 5: Bake Biscuits: Place the biscuits on a baking sheet. Bake for approximately 7 to 12 minutes, or until they are golden brown on top.
Step 6: Prepare Glaze: While the biscuits are still warm, prepare the glaze. In a small bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, water, vanilla extract, and lemon juice until smooth.
Step 7: Finish & Serve: Remove the biscuits from the oven. Brush the tops of the hot biscuits with melted butter (about 1 tablespoon). Drizzle the glaze over the tops of the biscuits and let it set for a few minutes before serving warm.
